Jan (Jacobs) Unruh ('85)

Track & Field - Volleyball

Jan (Jacobs) Unruh - Hall of FameJan (Jacobs) Unruh (C'85) was a two-sport star at the University of Dubuque in Track & Field and Volleyball. In Track, Unruh was a three-time NCAA Division-III All-American in three different events. She earned All-American honors in the Heptathlon (Sixth Place in 1984 Outdoors), Long Jump (Third Place in 1985 Indoors), and 55m Hurdles (Sixth Place in 1985 Indoors). She has held the school record in the 100m Dash, 200m Dash, 800m Run, Long Jump, and Heptathlon.

On the volleyball court, she was a two-time First Team All-Iowa Conference selection (1982, 1983) earning conference MVP in 1983. The 1982 Spartans finished the year with a 37-4 record, winning the first ever IIAC Volleyball Championship by going 6-0 at the IIAC Post-Season Tournament.
