Cassat Hall is one of three freshman traditional residence halls. Cassat Hall is located near the Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center, the football field, and the other athletic fields. The residence hall is co-ed, with each floor dedicated to either men or women.
Cassat Hall opened in 1968 and was named for David B. Cassat, a successful C.E.O. of Interstate Finance Corporation, active Presbyterian lay leader, and member and chair of the University of Dubuque Board of Directors. The building was financed through government funds and through the Cassat family. Douglas Donnell and David Cassat were close friends, so the proximity of the Cassat and Donnell buildings is appropriate. Like Donnell Hall, the interior of the residence hall underwent major renovations in the summer of 2003.
