Krenger Voted to Third Team All-Region

DUBUQUE, IOWA – The 2012 D3baseball.com All-Central Region Baseball teams were announced on May 18th with one Spartan making the team. Earning the honor of being called All-Region was University of Dubuque senior Paul Krenger (Chicago, Ill./Van Steuben). Krenger, a member of the third team, set a UD single season record this past season finishing the season with a 1.74 E.R.A.

Krenger, a Second Team All-Iowa Conference performer in 2012, finished the season 22nd in DIII with 6.36 hits allowed per nine innings and 35th with a 1.73 earned run average. In all games played, he led the Iowa Conference in batting average against (.200), fewest hits allowed (33), and fewest runs allowed (9) while finishing with the second lowest earned run average (1.74). In IIAC only games, he had a league low 1.94-ERA.

The Spartans finished the season with an 18-22 record. As a pitching staff the Spartans finished with the third fewest walks allowed (68) with the fourth most strikeouts (130) in Iowa Conference games.

Players were nominated by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools. 713 players were nominated nationwide in 2012; the first year that D3baseball.com has awarded an All-Region team. All-Region teams were selected in balloting by sports information directors in each region and D3baseball.com staff.
