Hanus Named IIAC Performer of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today that Wartburg College cross country runner Alana Enabnit and Central College cross country runner Eli Horton have been named IIAC Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, October 28, 2012. The Conference also recognized a total of 13 Performers of the Week across eight league sports.

University of Dubuque senior Wyatt Hanus (Traer, Iowa/North Tama) was named IIAC Football Offensive Performer of the Week. Hanus completed 23-33 passes for 376 yards with five touchdown passes and no interceptions in the Spartans 45-40 win over Simpson College. His quarterback efficiency rating of 215.41 was a season high. He has now thrown 146 passing attempts without an interception. Hanus has completed at least 60% of his passes, thrown for 225 yards, and passed for a touchdown in every game this season and 18 straight games dating back to last season. He has thrown a touchdown pass in 20 consecutive games.

Through eight games this season, Hanus leads the Iowa Conference in completions (208), passing yards per game (321.0), and passing touchdowns (22). He is second in completion % (67.1) and passing efficiency (157.5). 

Hanus is currently the NCAA Division III Active Leader in Passing Efficiency (164.91) and Completion Percentage (68.21%). He also ranks fourth in touchdown passes (77), fifth in passing yards (7,797), and seventh in completions (620).

This marks the fourth time Hanus has been voted IIAC Football Offensive Performer of the Week. He earned the award two times in 2011 and once in 2010.
