Frazier Named IIAC Performer of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today that Buena Vista University basketball player Susan Kies and Wartburg College wrestler Tommy Mirocha have been named IIAC Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, December 2, 2012. The Conference also announced Performers of the Week in five sports.

University of Dubuque guard Chris Frazier (Heidelberg, Germany/Heidelberg) was named the IIAC Men’s Basketball Performer of the Week. Frazier continued his sharp shooting this season with 25 points against North Central University. He finished 8-9 from the field and 5-6 from beyond the three-point line. He also pulled down three rebounds in the Spartans 80-65 win. Frazier also scored 14 points in the home opener for UD against Silver Lake College to end the week. Dubuque defeated Silver Lake 86-57 to improve to 6-1 on the season.

Frazier has scored double figures in six of the seven games played this season with a season average of 15.7 points per game. He is currently shooting 47.4% (27-57) from three and 84.6% (11-13) from the free throw line. His 27 three pointers made lead the Iowa Conference while his 15.7 ppg is fifth in the conference.

This is the first IIAC Performer of the Week award for Frazier. The last Spartan to win the award was current UD assistant coach Lee Piccinelli last season on January 8th.

UP NEXT: The Spartans host Clarke University on December 5th at 7:00 pm on Jon Davison Court. Dubuque defeated Clarke 64-56 at UW-Stout on November 24th.
