DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball team needed to win Saturday to keep within two games of the IIAC lead with just two games remaining in the regular season. Saturday the Spartans captured their 17th win of the season with a 69-50 victory over the Central Dutch.

The Spartans jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back, leading the complete game with their largest lead being 27 points with 11:40 to go in the second half. Chris Frazier led UD in scoring with 17 points after he sank 7-10 attempts from the field helping the Spartans to end the night sinking 27-56 shot attempts (48.2%). Andre Norris added 12 points off the bench as UD's bench out scored the Dutch reserves 30-14. Sixteen Spartans saw action in the victory and 12 of them scored. Both teams struggled at the free throw line as UD held the slim edge 55% (11-20) to the Dutch 50% (10-20).

The Spartans locked up a place in the 2013 IIAC Tournament last week and are two games behind league leaders of Buena Vista and Luther (teams UD have split with this season). Two games remain in the conference race, UD will travel to Simpson (6-17 overall, 2-10 in IIAC) on Wednesday, Feb. 13. The Storm are hungry for the last qualifying spot with Loras holding a game edge (8-15 overall, 3-9 in IIAC) and enter the final week tied with Central (9-13 overall, 2-10 in IIAC).

UD will finish their regular season on Saturday, Feb. 16 with rival Loras. The Spartans will take a few minutes between the women's and men's games to honor the senior student-athletes. Tip-off slated for 4:00 p.m. in Stoltz Sports Center.
