Jamison Honored by Iowa Conference

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced today that Central College track and field athlete Felicia Coleman and Coe College basketball player Seth Light have been named IIAC Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 10, 2013. The Conference also announced its IIAC Performers of the Week in six sports -- men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor track & field, wrestling and men's tennis.

University of Dubuque freshman Kevin Jamison (Hillside, Ill./Proviso West) was named IIAC Men's Indoor Track and Field (Field) Performer of the Week. Jamison won the Triple Jump at the UW-Platteville Invitational with a personal best jump of 46’ 1.5” (14.06m). His jump at UWP is tops in the Iowa Conference by 2’ 7.5” and the 19th best in Division III. Since the Sol Butler Classic on January 12th, Jamison has increased his triple jump by 1’ 7.5”. In four competitions this year he has finished no lower than fifth place including three top three finishes.

Jamison is the first UD field performer to win Indoor Performer of the Week since DeAndre Bovan on February 16th, 2003. The Spartans have won 4 of 10 Triple Jump titles at the Iowa Conference Indoor Championships (Bovan-2003, 2004, 2005 & Antony Jenkins-2008).
