Spartans 18th Win of Season

INDIANOLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball team captured their 18th win of the season on Wednesday evening after beating the Simpson College Storm by a 76-56 score. The Spartans remained in third place of the Iowa Conference standing with a 8-5 mark. UD spread the scoring around with four student-athletes reaching double-digit scoring. Senior Jordan Townsend finished with a team high 15 points and collected six rebounds in the victory. Brandon Ferguson came off the bench to add 13 points along with Andre Norris who added 12 points. Chris Frazier finished with 12 points and grabbed six defensive rebounds. Lucas Ware found the open shooter and earned six assists.

The Spartans shot 48.1% from the field, 46.2% from the three point area and made 15-21 free throws. The Spartans forced the Storm into committing 12 turnovers and held them to an icy 7-18 shooting from the field in the opening half. 

UD returns to end their regular season at home on Jon Davison Court on Saturday, Feb. 16 on Senior Day. The Spartans will take a few minutes between games to honor the senior women's and men's student-athlete basketball players. UD 18-6 overall, 8-5 in IIAC will face the Loras Duhawks (8-16 overall, 3-10 in IIAC) on Saturday. Spartan fans are asked to wear white shirts for the "White-out" game in Stoltz Sports Center.
