Whiting Repeats as IIAC Performer of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today that the four MVPs of this past weekend's Iowa Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship -- Central College senior Felicia Coleman, Simpson College junior Joe Farrand, and Wartburg College sophomores Kayla Hemann and Colt Feltes -- have been named IIAC Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 24, 2013. The Conference also announced Performers of the Week in men's and women's basketball and men's tennis.

University of Dubuque senior Mollie Whiting (Woodstock, Ill./Woodstock) has been named IIAC Women’s Basketball Performer of the Week for the second straight week and third time this season. Whiting started the week with an IIAC Tournament record 41 points in the 1st Round against Luther. She followed that performance with 21 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and three steals on the road at Wartburg in the semifinals. In the Championship game versus Simpson she finished with 37 points, six rebounds, and three assists. The senior guard finished the week with 99 points, 18 rebounds, eight assists, and five steals.

Whiting finished the season second in all of NCAA Division III at 23.8 points per game and led all of DIII with 262 field goals made. She finished the season by scoring 20 or more points in 18 straight games and at least 15 points in each of the final 22 contests. On the year, Whiting scored 15 or more in 25 of 28 games.
