Spartans Ready for Regionals

DUBUQUE, IOWA – The University of Dubuque Wrestling team will complete in the NCAA DIII Central Region Championships on Saturday, March 2 at the Five Flags Center. The first round matches begin at 9:00 am. At the end of the weekend, the Top 3 finishers in each weight class will have their ticket punched to the NCAA DIII Championships on March 15-16 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. 2013 marks the first year under the new regional format for deciding championship qualifiers.
Tickets are available at the Five Flags Center box office on the day of the event only. Tickets are for the full day with prices being $13 for adults and $11 for students and seniors. Doors open at 8:00 am.
The Spartans are currently ranked #24 in Division III by the National Wrestling Coaches Association. Individuals currently ranked in the top 10 are Derek Mizaur (#5 at 174 lbs.), Chris Sokol (#8 at 133 lbs.), and Logan Einerson (#10 at 184 lbs.). Einerson and Ryan Warczynskiwere each National Championships qualifiers in 2012. Warczynski has qualified the past three seasons, at 157 lbs. in 2010/2011 and at 149 lbs. in 2012.
