Spartans at Metrodome

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA – The University of Dubuque Baseball team escaped the snow and cold weather outside with two games inside the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome against Hamline University on Monday night. The Spartans out hit the Pipers in game one but lost 2-1. UD lost in game two 8-1. UD is now 0-4 on the season.

Game 1: UD-1, Hamline-2 BOX SCORE
The Spartans leadoff hitter Andrew Danna (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) opened the game with a triple to right center for the second time in three games this season. Danna would score on a Michael Campbell (Clinton, Mo./Clinton) groundball to give UD a 1-0 lead.

Josh Eastman (Edgerton, Wis./Edgerton) went the distance on the mound allowing four hits in six innings of work. Eastman struck out three while allowing two earned runs.

UD finished with a 7-4 advantage in hits. 

Game 2: UD-1, Hamline-8 BOX SCORE
Danna once again led the Spartans at the plate with two hits including an RBI double. Michael Riordan (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) collected his first collegiate hit with a single in the fifth.

Max Nank (Waterloo, Iowa/West) took the loss on the mound for UD. Nank struck out two hitters while walking four and allowing two earned runs. Landon Klostermann (Epworth, Iowa/Western Dubuque) pitched a scoreless seventh inning setting the Pipers down 1-2-3.
