DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque Spartans softball team was held to four total hits on Thursday by the visiting UW-La Crosse Eagles. UD lost the opener 0-3 and lost the night cap 0-1 despite playing errorless ball in both contests.

The Spartans collected hits in game one by Jennifer Pohlman, Lindsay Ellinor, and Meggie Schmidt and stranded five runners on base. Pitcher Emily Michels threw the first five innings and gave up six hits after facing 23 batters. Dionna Jensen came in for relief and allowed just one hit after facing seven at bats.

In game two, it was a pitchers dual. The Spartans Jensen started and went the distance allowing six hits, one run (a homerun in the second inning), three strikeouts and no walked batters after facing 22 batters. UD's offense was held at bay as the Eagles pitcher Heather Grelle, who had a perfect game going through 19 outs before Pohlman earned the Spartans only hit in the loss in the bottom of the seventh inning.
