2013 UD Open Track & Field (Complete Results)

DUBUQUE, IOWA - The University of Dubuque Men's and Women's Track & Field teams each took first place at the 2013 University of Dubuque Open. The Men's team dominated with 237 team points, 141 points better than second place Cornell. The Women's team won with 166 points. Combined the two squads won 11 events.

The Spartans Women's team excelled in the relays winning the 4x100m and 4x400m Relay. Nikki McKenzie (Hoffman Estates, Ill./William Fremd) was on both relay teams. Other members of the winning 4x100m team were Randi Bodish (Guttenberg, Iowa/Clayton Ridge), Tieisha Starks (Waukegan, Ill./Waukegan), and Jamyia Catchings (Pavle Forest, Ill./Bloom Trail). Leigha Hodge (Madison, Wis./Lafollette), Rachael Busjahn (Sobieski, Wis./Pulaski), and Kim Trinco (Schaumberg, Ill./JB Conant) teamed with McKenzie to win the 4x400m Relay by nearly four seconds. Field event wins were Catchings in the Long Jump and Alexis Higgins (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) in the High Jump. 

The top field performer on the Men's Team was sophomore Christopher Watson (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) with first place finishes in the High Jump and Long Jump. Conner Hirt (Hainesville, Ill./Grayslake Central) won the Hammer Throw with a toss of 45.66m to give UD three field event wins.  On the track, Corey Broussard (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha South) earned two wins on the day, winning the 100m Dash and teamed with Phillip Jones (South Holland, Ill./Thornwood), Kyle Williams (Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom), and Andy Sierra (Fruitland, Iowa/Louisa-Muscatine) to run a 32.13 time in the 4x100 relay. The Spartans finished 1-2-3-4 in the 200m Dash with Payton Hanson (Dodgeville, Wis./Dodgeville) taking first, Sierra second, Jones third, and Tyrone Galvin (Madison, Wis./Madison East) fourth. Evan Zurbuchen (Hollandale, Wis./Madison West) won the 400m Hurdles and took second in the 110m Hurdles. 

UD also went 1-2-3 in the Men's 100m Dash with Broussard winning, Jones taking second, and Galvin finishing third. Jones posted the fastest time in the prelims.
