As a junior Hanus led DIII with 44 touchdown passes and was second in passing efficiency at 189.36 while leading the Spartans to an Iowa Conference Championship and berth in the NCAA DIII Playoffs.

“I am incredibly excited for Wyatt to get the opportunity to workout with an NFL team. He has been a leader and one of the hardest workers since he arrived on campus,” said Head Coach Stan Zweifel. “For our Football program to send players to NFL camps two years in a row shows how far we have improved over the last four years. This is a fantastic opportunity for Wyatt and the University of Dubuque Football program.”

In addition to his on the field accomplishments, Hanus is a four-time Academic All-Conference award winner (3-football 1-basketball), two-time First Team Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District, Second Team Academic All-America in 2011, and First Team Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-America in 2012. He was also named a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation Campbell Trophy awarded to the National Scholar-Athlete of the Year. A double major in accounting and business marketing with a 3.85 GPA, he will graduate in May of 2013.

The senior quarterback owns seven of the top 20 single-game passing yardage totals in UD history while also holding the Spartans single-game marks for touchdowns (7 vs. Buena Vista, 2011) and completions (37 vs. Central, 2012). The seven touchdown passes against Buena Vista are an Iowa Conference (IIAC) record, as were his 35 scoring strikes in league play in 2011. Hanus figured prominently in a third IIAC record as 21 of his 37 completions at Central in 2012 went to Austin Morgan, setting a new single-game league mark for receptions.

Other players participating in the Rookie Minicamp are the nine Viking selections in the 2013 NFL Draft including all three first round picks, 16 undrafted free agents, 34 players invited on a tryout basis, and nine current Vikings. Other quarterbacks participating in the minicamp are Dayne Crist (Kansas/Notre Dame) and James Vandenberg (Iowa).
