Spartans Ready for Regionals

The University of Dubuque Wrestling team will complete in the NCAA DIII Central Region Championships on Saturday, March 2 at the Five Flags Center. The first round matches begin at 9:00 am. At the end of the weekend, the Top 3 finishers in each weight class will have their ticket punched to the NCAA DIII Championships on March 15-16 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. 2013 marks the first year under the new regional format for deciding championship qualifiers.
Spartans Qualify Five for DIII Championships

The University of Dubuque Wrestling team will be well represented at the NCAA Division III National Championships with five Spartans qualifying with top three finishes at the Central Region Championships. UD placed third overall with 110.5 team points. The NCAA DIII Championships will take place March 15-16 in Cedar Rapids at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.
Spartans Season Ends in NCAA Tournament

The University of Dubuque men's basketball season came to an abrupt end on Saturday against the returning NCAA Division III Champions of UW-Whitewater. Despite the 58-42 loss, the Spartans finish the season with a school record 22 wins!

The Young Adult (YA) Book Club, in its third year of existence, is attracting more readers to the genre, and features author chats as a regular part of its discussion groups.
Spartans Suffer Loss in First Ever Varsity Lacrosse Match

The University of Dubuque Women's Lacrosse played their first game in school history on Saturday, March 9th but lost 16-4 to Fontbonne University (1-1). The young Spartans team scored the games final three goals to close out the teams first action of the season.
Softball on Spring Break in Florida

The University of Dubuque softball team is anxious to continue their season this week in the warm sunshine of Florida over spring break. The Spartans leave by charter bus on Friday, March 15 and will play 10 games while in Clermont, Florida at the 2013 National Training Center Spring Games.
Borah Scores Three Goals in Loss

The University of Dubuque women's lacrosse team battled light snow flurries and wind on Tuesday night while playing on the road, but it was the host Benedictine University which captured the match-up 19-4. UD is now 0-2 in their first season of action.
NCAA DIII Wrestling Championships Info

The University of Dubuque Wrestling team is gearing up for the NCAA DIII Wrestling Championships on Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Spartans qualified a school record five individuals for the championships with their performances at the 2013 Central Region Championships. First Round matches from the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena begin at 11:00 am.
Honors Continue for Whiting

University of Dubuque Women’s Basketball student-athlete Mollie Whiting earned First Team D3hoops.com All-West Region. In addition, Whiting was named Honorable Mention All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and D3hoops.com. Whiting leads Division III with 262 field goals made and 667 points scored.
NWCA Division III Scholar All-Americans

The NCAA Division III National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) is pleased to announce their 2012-13 Scholar All-American Team. The Spartans earned two Scholar All-Americans who have earned the prestigious honor: Derek Mizaur (Jr., Sherrad, Ill./Sherrard HS) and teammate Chris Sokol (Sr., Lodi, Wis./Lodi HS).

The University of Dubuque Baseball team escaped the snow and cold weather outside with two games inside the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome against Hamline University on Monday night. The Spartans out hit the Pipers in game one but lost 2-1. UD lost in game two 8-1.
Spartans Fall to #5 St. Thomas

The University of Dubuque Baseball team went toe-to-toe with one of the nation’s best Division III programs on Tuesday afternoon in the Metrodome. The Spartans lost both games of the doubleheader to #5 St. Thomas by one run. In the opener, UD lost 3-2 followed by a 4-3 loss in game two.

The University of Dubuque Baseball team picked up its first wins of the season on Tuesday morning inside the Metrodome. The Spartan bats awoke in game one with an 11-1 win over Bethany Lutheran. UD rallied late in game two to win 2-1.

On Thursday, April 4, the University of Dubuque welcomes Dr. David Brodnax, Sr., who will deliver a lecture titled Almost Free: African Americans in Dubuque, 1830-1900. The lecture will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Charles and Romona Myers Center Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Meyer Named IIAC Female Athlete of the Week

The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today that University of Dubuque softball player Amber Meyer has been named IIAC Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 24, 2013. In eight games last week, Meyer hit .583 (14-24) with two homeruns, eight runs scored, eight runs batted in, and stole five bases.

The University of Dubuque Baseball team opened the 2013 Iowa Conference season on Easter Sunday with two games versus Coe. The Spartans lost Game 1, 9-5 in 12 innings. UD would go on to lose Game 2 by a score of 10-7.

The University of Dubuque Baseball team earned its first Iowa Conference win of the 2013 season against Coe College on Monday afternoon. After dropping the opening game by a score of 6-4, UD bounced back with a convincing 12-1 win in Game 2.
