Spartans Sweep Duhawks

The University of Dubuque softball team accomplished what hasn't been done since 1998, a sweep of across town rival the Loras Duhawks. The Spartans won Game 1, 6-3 and took Game 2 in 5-Innings by the score of 11-2.

Spartans Play Errorless Defense in Loss to UW-La Crosse

The University of Dubuque Spartans Softball team was held to four total hits on Thursday by the visiting UW-La Crosse Eagles. UD lost the opener 0-3 and lost the night cap 0-1 despite playing errorless ball in both contests.

Spartans Fall Short to Duhawks

The University of Dubuque women's lacrosse team played even in the first half of action before the host Duhawks out scored the Spartans 4-1 as time ran out in the opening 30 minutes. Judy Borah scored five goals.

Spartans Lose a Pair of 1-run Games

The University of Dubuque Baseball team once again found itself in a pair of tight games on Friday afternoon. For the fifth and sixth time this season, the Spartans lost a one run game. UD lost the first game of the doubleheader 1-0 on a Central run in the sixth inning. The Spartans once again lost late in Game 2 when the Dutch scored in the bottom of the ninth to win 4-3.

Spartans Drop Close Games at Central

The University of Dubuque Baseball team continued their trend of playing lose games this season again on Saturday afternoon. In Game 1, a 7-Inning contest, UD led going into the bottom of the sixth before giving up three runs and falling 5-3 to Central. Dubuque was in another tight game in Game 2 as they lost 4-3 with the Dutch scoring the winning run in the eighth inning.

Spartans Drop Pair on the Road

The Spartans men's tennis team fought a valiant effort on Saturday, but dropped a pair of Iowa Conference matches. UD fell 4-5 to the Simpson College Storm and lost to the Central College Dutch 2-7.

Spartans Fall Short in Home Opener

The University of Dubuque women's lacrosse team played their first ever match in school history on Saturday at Oyen Field. Unfortunately for the Spartans they were out scored by the visiting Concordia University (WI) by a score of 16-6. Judy Borah scored three goals.

Spartans Sweep #12 Simpson Storm

Last year the Spartans broke a 52 game non-winning streak against the Simpson College Storm, this year they extended their streak to three wins in a row with a sweep of the Storm on Sunday by scores of 1-0 and 6-3 in front of near capacity crowd.

Spartans Travel to Aurora

The University of Dubuque Women’s Lacrosse team took their game on the road on Tuesday afternoon to take on Aurora University. In the battle of the Spartans, UD was on the losing end of a 21-3 decision. Dubuque is now 0-8 in their inaugural season.

Martin Pitches Spartans to Split with Buena Vista

The University of Dubuque Baseball team earned a split on Saturday afternoon against Buena Vista University. The Spartans took Game 2, 3-0, behind the strong pitching effort of Nick Martin. Martin struck out nine while allowing no walks in the complete game shutout. UD lost the opener of the four game series 5-2.

Spartans Split with #17 Central Dutch

The University of Dubuque softball team remained tied for the Iowa Conference lead after Saturday. The #17-ranked Central Dutch were tied for the league lead at a perfect 4-0 with the Spartans and after Saturday they were still tied after earning a split. The Spartans dropped the opener 2-10 in five innings, but fought back and captured game two in dramatic fashion 5-3.

Kuehn Leads Spartans in Opener

The University of Dubuque Baseball team won in dramatic fashion on Sunday morning in game one of the doubleheader against Buena Vista. Trailing 2-0 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Spartans rallied for three runs with the game winner coming on a two-run single by Spencer Kuehn. Kuehn also picked up the win on the mound in the 3-2 victory. UD would fall 6-2 in the second game to finish the four game series with a 2-2 split for the weekend.

Martin Named IIAC Pitcher of the Week

University of Dubuque senior Nick Martin (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) was named IIAC Baseball (Pitcher) Performer of the Week. Martin pitched all nine innings versus Buena Vista on Saturday, April 13th in a shutout effort. He struck out a season high nine batters while allowing no walks and seven hits.

Spartans Battle #9 Norse

The University of Dubuque softball faced it's third top-ranked team in a week on Monday. A rain delayed doubleheader to #9-ranked Luther College Norse was finally completed, and it favored the Norse at the end of the day. Luther captured game one by a score of 10-7, and in game two the Norse took the contest by a 9-1 in five innings.

UD to Host First Annual Celebration of Student Scholarship and Creativity

A member of the University of Dubuque's faculty since 2002, Dr. Barland was recently invited to perform solo organ recitals in Northern Ireland, Scotland, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Iowa, and California.

Teacher Education Program Receives Continued Accreditation

The University of Dubuque Teacher Education Program has received formal approval of continued accreditation by the Iowa Board of Education. The board made the approval at their March 28, 2013 meeting in Des Moines.

UD Slates Inaugural Exhibit for Heritage Center's Bisignano Art Gallery

UD Fine and Performing Arts Department to Present A Midsummer Night's Dream

University of Dubuque Fine and Performing Arts Department Announces Spring Choir Concerts

The University of Dubuque Fine And Performing Arts Department will present three spring concerts by the University's Concert Choir and Chamber Singers over the weekend of April 19, 2013. The Concert Choir will perform on Friday, April 19 and the Chamber Singers on Saturday, April 20 in Blades Chapel on the University of Dubuque Campus; both concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. The Concert Choir will perform an encore concert on Sunday, April 21 at Queen of the Rosary Chapel, 282 County Road Z, Sinsinawa, WI at 3:00 p.m.

The University of Dubuque Baseball game against Luther College scheduled for Friday, April 19th has been postponed to Sunday, April 21st due to field conditions from the rain over the past two days. There is no change to Saturday's doubleheader.

Women’s Tennis Sets Wins Record

The University of Dubuque Women’s Tennis team set a new school record on Thursday night with their seventh win of the season. The Spartans also improved to 3-1 in the spring season with the 5-3 win over Knox College.

The University of Dubuque Men's and Women's Track & Field teams each took first place at the 2013 University of Dubuque Open. The Men's team dominated with 237 team points, 141 points better than second place Cornell. The Women's team won with 166 points. Combined the two squads won 11 events.
