KANSAS CITY, KANSAS – The University of Dubuque Women’s Soccer team moved up two spots to eighth in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division III North Region Poll. UD also received votes (13) in the first D3soccer.com Top 25. The Spartans have outscored the opposition 14-4 on their way to a 4-0 record.

The Spartans currently boast the top scoring offense in the Iowa Conference (IIAC) with 14 goals and rank 46th in Division III at 3.5 goals per game. Senior forward Alexandra Watkins (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and junior forward Megan Siepler (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) continue to lead the UD scoring attack with a combined nine goals and seven assists. Watkins leads the Iowa Conference with 13 points (5-goals, 3-assists) and is 12th in DIII while Siepler is second in the IIAC with 12 points (4-goals, 4-assists) and 13th in DIII. Siepler’s four assists rank fourth in the nation and first in the IIAC. The UD forwards also ranked 1-2 in the IIAC in goals scored.

Aiding in the scoring from the midfield position is IIAC Offensive Performer of the Week Katie Lynn (Fox River Grove, Ill./Barrington) who has scored two goals and registered three assists. Lynn scored the game winning goal on a header in overtime against Marian to give UD a 3-2 victory. In the previous game versus Lawrence, she had three assists as the Spartans went on to a 7-1 win.

The 4-0 start to the season is the second best in school history and tied for the best start since the 2002 team started off 5-0. The 2007 and 2009 teams each started off 4-0 as well.  The Spartans 3-2 overtime win against Marian was the 125th win in the programs history and for Head Coach Jason Berna.
