DUBUQUE, IOWA - The University of Dubuque Men's Soccer team once again found themselves headed into overtime against a top notch opponent on Tuesday night. The Spartans are now 0-2-1 in overtime matches after the 1-0 loss to UW-Whitewater on Oyen Field. UD is now 1-4-1 on the year.

The Spartans were able to fend off numerous scoring opportunities from UW-W as they went into overtime tied at 0-0. UD nearly took an early lead within the first ten minutes of the second half after a free kick from Brandon Wiley (Mannheim, Germany/Mannheim) led to a loose ball in the box. Peter Hager (Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo) controlled the loose ball but had his shot on goal stopped by the diving goal keeper.

Jose Resendiz (Streamwood, Ill./Streamwood) took the loss in goal after stopping four shots in regulation and a fifth early in overtime.

Starting defenders Hager, Will Hirsch (Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City West), and Ryan Gingrich (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Linn-Mar) combined for four of the Spartans eight shots and both shots on goal.

UP NEXT: The Spartans will play on the road at North Park University on September 20th at 7:00 pm.
