Spartans Continue to Climb in Polls

KANSAS CITY, KANSAS – The University of Dubuque Women’s Soccer team once again moved up two spots in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division III North Region Poll with their #6 ranking this week. The Spartans also picked up 16 new points to give them a total of 29 points in the D3soccer.com Top 25. UD is one of 21 remaining undefeated teams in all of NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer.

The 5-0 Spartans currently lead the Iowa Conference (IIAC) in assists (18), assists per game (3.60), points per game (9.60), and fewest goals allowed (4). Goalkeeper Tiffany Duncan (Hartford, Wis./Hartford Union) is tied for the IIAC lead with two shutouts and is second with a 0.81 goals against average.

Forwards Alexandra Watkins (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and Megan Siepler (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) continue to provide the spark for the Spartans offensive attack. Watkins and Siepler currently lead the IIAC with four assists and are 16th in DIII. Watkins also leads the conference with 14 points (5-goals/4-assists) while Siepler is second with 12 points (4-goals/4-assists). Midfielder Katie Lynn (Fox River Grove, Ill./Barrington) is fourth in the IIAC with seven points (2-goals/3-assists).

The Spartans 5-0 start matches the 2002 team for the best start in school history.
