Women's Soccer Off to 6-0 Start

DUBUQUE, IOWA - The University of Dubuque Women's Soccer team is off to the best start in school history after another victory on Wednesday night. The Spartans rallied back from a 1-0 deficit at half to win 2-1 over North Central College (IL). UD is now 6-0-0 on the season.

For the first time this season, the Spartans found themselves trailing after a NCC goal in the 12th minutes of action. Dubuque had gone 466 minutes without being behind. Despite trailing at the half, UD held a 6-4 lead in shots and 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. 

The Spartans quickly bounced back in the second half with a goal from Alexandra Watkins (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) in the 64th minute of play. Watkins scored after controlling a Megan Siepler (La Canada, Calfi./La Canada) shot that hit the post. UD continued to put the pressure on with three shots on goal over the next five minutes but were unable to score until the 83rd minute when Lisa Rosas (Arcadia, Calif./Arcadia) put the Spartans ahead 2-1. It was corner kick number 13 that led to the Rosas goal after Melissa Sawyer (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) had her kick pit the post. 

Tiffany Duncan (Hartford, Wis./Hartford Union) had two saves in the winning effort in goal.

UD held a 13-2 advantage in corner kicks. 

The Spartans current six game winning streak tied the school record which was set in 2012.
