Women's Cross Country at Brissman/Lundeen Invite

ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS - The University of Dubuque Women's Cross Country team placed 19th of 33 teams at the 2013 Brissman/Lundeen Invitational hosted by Augustana College. The Spartans showed fresh legs after nearly two weeks of preperation. Brenda Nava (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) was the top finisher for UD at 24:46.1, good for 93rd of 415 total runners. Fabiola Ortiz (Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) and Samantha Holen (Rockford, Ill./Rockford Lutheran) each ran personal best times on Friday night at the golf course race.

Ortiz was the Spartans second finisher at 25:14.3 to take 118th place and moved into 13th place all-time at Dubuque. In her second college meet, Ortiz cut 0:13 seconds off her time from the Les Dukes Invite. Holen impoved on her previous fastest time by 0:04 seconds with her time of 25:25.7, good for the 15th best time in school history at 6,000 meters. Rachael Busjahn (Sobieski, Wis./Pulaski) was third for UD.
