Ninth Place for Spartan Women at Wisconsin Lutheran

WEST ALLIS, WISCONSIN – The University of Dubuque Women’s Cross Country team competed at the Warrior Invitational hosted by Wisconsin Luther College on Saturday. The Spartans finished 9th in the 29 team race with 280 points. Brenda Nava (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) led UD with a time of 25:14.9 in the 6,000 meter race at Greenfield Park.
Nava, a junior, was the first Spartan across the finish line in 28th place overall. Fellow junior Rachael Busjahn (Sobieski, Wis./Pulaski) was the next runner to finish with a time of 25:48.4 in 42nd place. Fabiola Ortiz (Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) followed close behind Busjahn, finishing 46th with a time of 25:55.1.
Sam Holen (Rockford, Ill./Rockford Lutheran) was 74th at 27:02.8. Kiersten Wenthold (Fort Atkinson, Iowa/South Winn) was the last scorer for UD in 132nd place.
