Busjahn Leads Spartans at Coe

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA – The University of Dubuque Women’s Cross Country team competed at the Lamb/Kohawk Invitational hosted by Coe College on Saturday morning. The Spartans finished fifth of five teams with 112 points. Rachael Busjahn (Sobieski, Wis./Pulaski) led UD with a ninth place finish at 24:41.1 on the 6,000 meter course at Noelridge Park. 

Busjahn moved into 10th place all-time at UD with her time at Coe improving on her personal best time by 34 seconds. Brenda Nava (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) was the second Spartan across the finish line in 21st place at 25:31 followed right behind by Fabiola Ortiz (Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) in 22nd place.

Sam Holen (Rockford, Ill./Rockford Lutheran) was 29th at 26:23.6. Kiersten Wenthold (Fort Atkinson, Iowa/South Winn) was the last scorer for UD in 49th place at 28:17.9.

UP NEXT: The Spartans will compete in the Loras College: Dr. Tucker Invite on Friday, October 18th with the women’s race beginning at 4:30 pm. The Dr. Tucker Invite will be the last regular season meet for UD before competing at the Iowa Conference Championships on November 2nd at Central College.
