Women's Cross Country at NCAA Division III Regional

NORTHFIELD, MINNESOTA - The University of Dubuque Women's Cross Country team finished in 23rd place of 27 teams at the NCAA Division III Central Regional Championships, hosted by St. Olaf College. The Spartans top finisher on the 6,000 meter course was Rachael Busjahn (Sobieski, Wis./Pulaski) in 102nd place overall at 24:33.64. A total of 186 runners competed on Saturday morning at St. Olaf. 

Wartburg won its third straight Central Region Women's Championship with 86 team points. Senior Chelsea Johnson of St. Scholastica was the Individual Women's Champion with a time of 21:10.99.

Brenda Nava (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) was the second Spartan finisher in 106th place at 24:35.94. She continued her consistent running throughout her junior season with her seventh race between 24:35.7 and 25:31.5. Nava was 0.2 seconds off her personal record time. 

Freshman Fabiola Ortiz (Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) was the third Spartan across the finish line with a time of 24:46.49 in 111th place.

Sam Holen (Rockford, Ill./Rockford Lutheran) and Kiersten Wenthold (Fort Atkinson, Iowa/South Winn) took 148th and 168th respectively as the Spartans final two scorers.
