Norris Earns Iowa Conference Performer of the Week Honors

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWAThe Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today that University of Dubuque basketball player Jenna Kotas (Tinley Park, Ill. / Andrew) and Wartburg wrestler Landon Williams have been named IIAC Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, December 22, 2013. The Conference also announced Performers of the Week in men's and women's basketball and wrestling.

University of Dubuque forward Andre Norris (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) has been named IIAC Men's Basketball Performer of the Week. Norris finished with 25 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and two assists in the Spartans 109-66 victory over AIB. He shot 10-13 from the field, 2-2 from three-point range, 3-3 from the free throw line, and threw down three dunks in the contest. UD improved to 8-0 on the year and are 1 of 12 undefeated teams remaining in Division III. 

Norris is second in the IIAC at 18.0 points per game and leads the conference in field goal percentage at 73.0%. Norris is also second in the league with 1.38 blocks per game. As a team, UD leads the Iowa Conference in scoring offense (89.1), scoring margin (+16.1), free throws made (182), three-point field goal percentage (44.4%), and turnover margin (+3.88). 

A Second Team All-Iowa Conference selection in 2012-13, Norris was the IIAC Performer of the Week earlier this season on November 19th when he averaged 20.0 points per game in the Spartans first two games of the 13-14 season.

UP NEXT: The Spartans will host Rockford College (7-3) in the opening round of the Jon Davison Holiday Tournament. Game time in Stoltz Sports Center is 7:00 pm. Clarke University and St. Francis University (IL) play at 5:00 pm in the other opening round game.
