RESULTS: 2014 UW-Platteville Indoor Invite

PLATTEVILLE, WISCONSIN - The University of Dubuque Men's Track & Field team made the short trip across the Dubuque-Wisconsin Bridge for the 2014 UW-Platteville Invitational on Saturday. The Spartans Rick Valcin (Catries, St. Lucia/Gros Islet) won the pole vault for the fifth team in six tries this season. There were no team scores.

Valcin cleared 4.77m (15' 7.75") on his way to the victory. In addition, he finished fifth in the 200m Dash with a time of 22.82, good for seventh all-time at UD. 

Payton Nevills (Savanna, Ill./West Carroll) broke the school record in the 5000m Run by seven seconds with a time of 15:46.91. He was sixth in the race. Remington Meggers (DeWitt, Iowa/Central DeWitt) moved into fourth all-time at UD with a time of 2:01.74 in the 800m Run. 

In sprints, Kyle Williams (Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom) qualified sixth in the 60m Dash at 7.19 seconds. He ran a 7.29 sprint in the finals to finish sixth of 58 total runners in the event. Evan Zurbuchen () also took sixth in the 60m Hurdles with a time of 8.54. 

The Spartans top field performers were Jeremy Lawson (Lake Isabella, Calif./Kern Valley) and Antwone Lindsey (Gulfport, Miss./Gulfport) with fifth place performances. Lawson cleared 1.90m (6 2.75") in the high jump while Lindsey lept to a distance of 6.60m (21' 8.0") in the long jump. The best UD finisher in the throws events was Mario-John Otchere (Rutland, Mass./Wachusett) in ninth place in the weight throw. 

UP NEXT: The Spartans will host the 2014 UD Spartan Invite on Friday, February 21st. Events are scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm.
