Spartans 5th in NCAA Central Regional

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The 2014 NCAA Division III Central Regional Championships at Five Flags Center in downtown Dubuque, Iowa was held on March 1. The qualifier will send 30 wrestlers to the 2014 NCAA Division III National Championships on March 14-15 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The University of Dubuque will send four national qualifiers. Leading the way was Nick Drendel who claimed the 149 lbs. title. Derek Mizaur finished 2nd at 165 lbs. Nicholas Rivera claimed 3rd in the 125 lbs. class along with teammate Brian Travis who placed 3rd at 141 lbs. The four qualifers helped the Spartans to a 5th place finish with 90 points.
The Central Region includes each of the eight current Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools, recent Iowa Conference member Cornell College (Midwest Conference), Rock Island, Illinois resident Augustana College (CCIW), and the Knox College Prairie Fire (Midwest Conference) from Galesburg, Illinois.
