INDIANOLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque softball team captured the sweep of Augsburg College on Saturday at the Central College Tournament. The Spartans scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to capture game one by a 5-4 score when designated hitter Hannah Koerperich homered as the leadoff batter. Amanda Williams claimed the complete game victory on the mound after striking out six batters. In the second game, the Spartans jumped out to an early lead as UD captured the game 7-1 with Megan Loes earning the complete game win.

The Spartans improved to 10-4 overall and continue to hit above .300 as a team while the Spartan pitchers have lowered their team ERA to 2.98. Leading hitter Meggie Schmidt is hitting .480, but is hitting .600 when runners are in scoring position. Koerperich leads UD in slugging percentage at .925 and leads her teammates in on-base percentage with .549. 

Tori Woltz has eight multi-hit games this season, including tying a school record in Florida with six RBI's in a game in victory over Manchester College. Koerperich has reached base in 12 consecutive times. Jennifer Pohlman remains a perfect 8-8 in stolen bases.

UD will continue play on Sunday with St. Scholastica at noon and UW-Eau Claire at 2:00 p.m.
