The Spartans return to Daniels Park did not start out well on Sunday for Game 3 of the series with Coe scoring in each of the first five innings. UD responded late with runs in the fourth, fifth, and seventh. Casanova had three hits with a double and two RBI in the game.

Down 3-0 after three innings, UD scored in the fourth and threatened for more leaving two runners on base. Eddie Pablo (Yelm, Wash./Yelm) led off the inning with a double down to right center and eventually scored on a RBI single by Michael Salazar (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain). Coe scored in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 4-1.

Vince Parisi (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) began the fifth with a double to center field before moving to third on a sac bunt. With one out and the infield back, Casanova hit a groundball to short that he beat out for the infield single and scored Parisi pulling UD within two at 4-2. Unfortunately Coe scored four runs in the bottom half to pull away from the Spartans. UD would score in the seventh on a RBI double by Casanova that scored Dalton Garst (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago) who led off the inning with a walk.

Harley Miller (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards) took the loss allowing four runs in 3.1 innings of work. Tyler Trifiletti (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury) and Mitchell Haferbier (Charlotte, Iowa/Northeast) each pitched scoreless innings of relief.

UD was done in by three big innings for the Kohawks as they scored two in the second, four in the fifth, two in the sixth, and two in the eighth as Coe scored 10 runs on 12 hits and two Dubuque errors. The Spartans scored two runs in the eighth to avoid the shutout. Casanova and Pablo each had two hits in the game.

The Spartans eighth inning began with back-to-back singles by Ryan Karrick (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) and Garst with no one out. A passed ball allowed Karrick to score and advanced Garst to second. With one out, Casanova reached base for the fourth straight at bat after he was hit by a pitch. A wild pitch moved both runners into scoring position for Austin McWhite (Orlando, Fla./Wekiva). McWhite lined a 2-1 pitch into left field to score Garst but Casanova was thrown out at home to end the inning.

Starting pitcher Trent Van Egtern (La Crosse, Wis./Central) was the losing pitcher allowing five runs (three unearned) in 4.1 innings. Jacob Padilla (Victorville, Calif./Victor Valley) pitched a 1-2-3 seventh, striking out one Kohawk.
