PLATTEVILLE, WISCONSIN - The University of Dubuque Track & Field teams made the short trip across the Dubuque-Wisconsin Bridge on Saturday morning for the UW-Platteville Invitational. The UW-P Invite was named the USTFCCCA Meet of the Week because of the high level of competition that was scheduled to participate. The women's team was pushed to their best, setting three school records. The UD men brought home two first place finishes. There were no team scores.

Spartans All-American Rick Valcin (Catries, St. Lucia/Gros Islet) continued his winning ways with another first place performance in the Pole Vault. Valcin cleared 4.93m (16'-2.0") for his second win in two outdoor meets. Running the 3,000m Steeplechase for the first time this season, Payton Nevills (Savanna, Ill./West Carroll) finished first with a time of 9:59.91, the fourth fastest time in UD history. Freshman Jeremy Lawson (Lake Isabella, Calif./Kern Valley) and DuVaun Goodlow (Joliet, Ill./Plainfield Central) went 4-5 in the high jump.

All three school records to fall for UD at UW-P were in field events. The first record to fall came early in the meet with Nickolette McKenzie (Hoffman Estates, Ill./William Fremd) clearing 5.45m (17'-10.75") on her first jump of the day in the long jump. Minutes later, Nicole Forson (Chicago, Ill./Chicago Hope Academy) broke the school record in the hammer throw on her second throw of the day. Forson threw 40.87m (134'-1.0") to break Katelyn Herbig's (Aurora, Ill./Aurora Central) mark from last week by 2'-9.0". Pole Vaulter Brenda Breimon (Oconomowoc, Wis./Slinger) upped her own school record by six inches with a final height of 3.25m (10'-8.0").

UP NEXT: UD will host the 2014 University of Dubuque - Good Friday Open on April 18th on the Douglas J. Miller Outdoor Track.
