IIAC Performer of the Week Honors for McKenzie

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWAThe Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today that Coe softball player Arran Weeces and Buena Vista baseball player Jeremy Lambert have been named IIAC Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 20, 2014. The Conference also announced Performers of the Week in six spring sports.

University of Dubuque junior Nickolette McKenzie (Hoffman Estates, Ill./William Fremd) was named Women's Outdoor Track & Field (Field) Performer of the Week. McKenzie won the triple jump and long jump at the UD Good Friday Open. Her winning leap of 11.17m (36'-7.75") in the triple jump ranks 33rd in Division-III and leads the Iowa Conference. While not a personal best, her winning long jump distance of 5.28m (17'-4.0") would rank second in the IIAC. McKenzie also ran on the 4x100m and 4x400m Relay teams that also took first place giving her four wins on the day. 

McKenzie won the triple jump and long jump at the 2014 Iowa Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships becoming the first indoor champion for the women's track program. She also participated in Cross Country in the fall, earning Academic All-Iowa Conference. McKenzie is the first Spartans student-athlete to earn Women's Outdoor Track Performer of the Week honors since Bridget Hosley won the award on March 28, 2010.
