Billesbach & Woltz Voted First Team Academic All-District

DUBUQUE, IOWA – University of Dubuque sophomores Ainsley Billesbach (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere North) and Tori Woltz (Wykoff, Minn./Chatfield) have been named to the First Team Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District (District #8) Softball team. To be selected a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher and be a sophomore or above. 

Billesbach and Woltz are the first Spartans to earn First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District in school history. Christina Chamberlain was a second team selection in 2011. 

A first year starter at second baseman, Billesbach is a Nursing major with a 4.0 GPA. She is hitting .375 (33-88) with ten doubles, two triples, three home runs, 15-runs scored, and 21-runs batted in. She has also been a steady glove on defense with a .992 fielding percentage including a perfect 1.000 in Iowa Conference action. In IIAC only games she is second in doubles (6), fourth in batting average (.425), fourth in slugging percentage (.725), and seventh in total bases (29).

Woltz is a Wellness & Exercise Science major with a 3.98 GPA. A first year starter at first base, she is hitting a team high .376 (41-109) with a team high 29 RBI and 41 hits. A starter for all 34 games, she has five doubles and two home runs in 109 at bats. In IIAC only games, she leads the conference with 121 putouts. 

 As a group, the Iowa Conference was chosen for seven of the 13 spots on the District-8 team. UD and Luther were the only teams with multiple selections.

District 8 consists of Division III Universities/Colleges from Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and Canada.

First Team Academic All-District selections advance to the Capital One Academic Team ballot, where first, second, and third team All-American honorees will be announced on May 20th.
