The University of Dubuque finished 2013 unblemished on Tuesday night after winning the 2013 Jon Davison Holiday Tournament by capturing the championship game 79-62 over the University of St. Francis. The Spartans improved to 10-0 on the season with the victory. Rockford University edged out Clarke University in the consolation game by a slim 87-82 margin.

Spartans Fall to North Park

The University of Dubuque Women's Basketball team closed out the 2013 calendar year on Tuesday afternoon. The Spartans lost on the road to North Park University (7-4), 78-66. Daneshia Snitker finished with a team high 15 points, seven rebounds, and four steals. UD falls to 7-4 on the year and 2-2 on the road.

Spartans Remain Perfect at 11-0

The University of Dubuque men's basketball team capped off a perfect non-conference season after winning on Friday night over the Bethany Lutheran College Vikings by a 83-71 victory. The Spartans will enter Iowa Conference play on Wednesday, January 8 against the Wartburg College Knights with a perfect, unbeaten 11-0 record for head coach Robbie Sieverding.

Shaffer Honored As Jerry Petitgoue Coaches Award Honoree

The University of Dubuque recently honored the 2013-14 recipient of the Jerry Petitgoue Coaches Award to Clay Shaffer. This annual award was recently named in honor of Wisconsin Hall of Fame coach Jerry Petitgoue, long-time boys basketball coach at Cuba City, Wis. Petitgoue is the winningest coach in the state of Wisconsin history with 846 wins.

Women's Soccer Honored with NSCAA Team Ethics Award & IIAC Fair Play Award

The University of Dubuque Women's Soccer team has been awarded the 2013 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Ethics Award. The Spartans earned the Silver Award for receiving no red cards and no more than five yellow cards accumulated during the season. UD was also announced as the Iowa Conference (IIAC) Fair Play Award winner for the 2013 season along with Wartburg.

University of Dubuque theatre students will present Dinner à la Morte, a murder mystery dinner theatre production, Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the University’s Babka Black Box Theatre, located in Heritage Center. The production will be directed by adjunct professor Molly Hoefflin, of Die Laughing Players, an expert in interactive theatre in Dubuque.

The University of Dubuque Women's Basketball team held on late to win its Iowa Conference (IIAC) opener on Wednesday night in Stoltz Sports Center. The Spartans led by as many as 18 points in the second half in the 61-59 victory against the Knights of Wartburg College. UD held Wartburg to 26.6% shooting from the field.

Spartans Win Re-match of Last Season's IIAC Tournament Final

The University of Dubuque men's basketball IIAC opener lived up to what everyone was anticipating. The last time the Spartans and Knights played was in the 2013 IIAC Tournament Championship. Tonight's contest lived up to the billing with both teams largest lead being by six points or less. The pair of teams swapped the lead 18 times and the game was tied another 10 teams before the Spartans won 67-63. UD moved to 12-0 overall and 1-0 in IIAC action.

Dubuque High School Juried Art Show at the University of Dubuque

Heritage Center’s Bisignano Art Gallery opens its next exhibition Dubuque High School Juried Art Show today, Thursday, January 9 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. The exhibition highlights works juried by the high school art teachers themselves at Dubuque Senior High School, Hempstead High School and Wahlert High School. The 16 works in the show are in various media including ceramics, painting, photography, pen and ink, multimedia, and weaving.

Spartans Track Starts Strong at Wartburg Relays

The University of Dubuque Men's Track and Field team opened the 2014 season at the Wartburg Relays on Friday night. The Spartans took Second Place (of 5 teams) with a total of 110 points. UD won five events with Rick Valcin setting a school record in the Pole Vault at 4.70m/15' 4". The Dubuque women finished in Second Place with 94 points.

Norris Named IIAC Performer of the Week for Third Time

University of Dubuque sophomore Andre Norris (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) was named IIAC Men’s Basketball Performer of the Week for the third time this season. Norris averaged 22.0 points per game as UD improved to 13-0 on year and 2-0 in the Iowa Conference. The Spartans are one of seven undefeated teams remaining in Division-III and 1 of 18 in the NCAA All-Divisions.

Spartans Remain Only Unbeaten Basketball Team in Iowa

The University of Dubuque men's basketball team remains the only unbeaten basketball team among Iowa colleges and are one of just 18 men's teams in all divisions to have not suffered a loss in the 2013-14 season. The Spartans are one of seven colleges in NCAA Division III to remain with a perfect basketball record and improved to 14-0 overall and 3-0 in the IIAC after posting a 79-69 victory on Wednesday night over the Luther College Norse.

The Spartans 66-60 win against Luther moves their record to 3-0 in league play. UD was led by Emily Brinker with 14 points including seven in the final four minutes of the game. Dubuque is now 10-4 overall and 5-1 on Jon Davison Court this season.

Spartans Set to Host Solomon W. Butler Classic

The University of Dubuque Track and Field program is set to host the 2014 Sol Butler Classic on Saturday, January 18th inside the Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center on the A.Y. McDonald Indoor Track. Teams scheduled to complete against the Spartans are: Augustana, Coe, Cornell, Loras, and Monmouth. Field events begin at 10:00 am with Track events starting at 11:00 am.
