Wrestling Honored with Top-30 Academic Ranking by NWCA

The National Westling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced the their academic awards for 2014-15 at the NCAA Division III National Championships this week. The University of Dubuque wrestling team earned the NWCA Academic Team Honor by being ranked #28 in the nation in overall team grade point average with a 3.27 GPA.

Melting Gender Roles: Stirring Up Awareness

A team of University of Dubuque students, faculty, and staff were recently awarded a $4300 grant from American Association of University Women (AAUW), sponsored by Pantene. This grant, focused on supporting student projects to address gender stereotypes and biases on college campuses, will fund an event entitled Melting Gender Roles: Stirring Up Awareness. The event, scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, at 7:30 p.m. in Peters Commons Dining Hall on the UD campus, is being held in conjunction with UD’s Healthy Relationship Week; it is free and open to the public.

Softball Sweeps Wartburg in Conference Opener

The University of Dubuque softball team captured the sweep of Wartburg College Knights on Tuesday afternoon, winning the opener in a thrilling bottom of the seventh victory 3-2 and capturing the second game in a 8-6 victory. The Spartans improve to 2-0 in Iowa Conference play and will continue their IIAC season on Thursday when they host Loras College Duhawks in the Strike Out Cancer series beginning at 3:00 p.m. on April 2. Last season the two teams joined forces and raised over $1,300 for the local American Cancer Society.
