UD Welcomes Students and Families During Iowa Private College Week

Jul 25, 2014

From August 4-8, Iowa Private College Week (IPCW) – sponsored by the Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (IAICU) – provides prospective students and their families a coordinated week-long opportunity to visit 26 non-profit, private college campuses. The annual event, offers campus tours and informational meetings specifically designed to assist students in evaluating their needs and goals for their higher education experience.  The IPCW passport gives students eligibility for one of the 58 $500 bookstore vouchers being offered, and can be used at Casey’s General Stores for gasoline discount coupons for families making campus visits during the week.

As part of Iowa Private College Week 2014, the University of Dubuque will hold Preview Day activities each day at 9:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. UD, like other participating Iowa Private Colleges and Universities, will offer campus tours, information sessions on academic programs, college admissions and financial planning, lunch, and opportunities to meet with athletic coaches.  Students who visit during IPCW and apply to UD will have the added benefit of having their application fee waved.

Located in cities and towns that span the state, Iowa’s 26 independent, non-profit colleges and universities annually educate more than 48,000 students.  Combined, they offer more than 147 undergraduate degree programs, a rapidly expanding set of graduate programs, an expansive selection of co-curricular activities and work-study, internship and overseas learning opportunities.  Iowa’s private college campuses are safe, stimulating, participatory learning communities with an average student-faculty ratio of 14 to 1.  These 26 schools are represented by the Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Des Moines.
