Volleyball Seeking First Win at Home

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque volleyball team welcomed special guest announcer Katie Wiedemann from KCRG-TV on Tuesday night to Stoltz Sports Center. The Spartans dropped the first set to the visiting Cornell College Rams before rallying back to even the match at 1-1. The Rams won the match by claiming the third and fourth sets to improve to 6-1 overall and dropping the Spartans to 1-8 overall.

The Spartans dropped set one 16-25, won set two by a 25-21, and lost set three 13-25 and the fourth set 16-25. Klaudia Basierak led UD's offense with 11 kills and two service aces. Hannah Zeiser finished with 29 set assists. UD finished the evening with 69 digs with Olivia Larson leading the Spartans with 23 digs. The front row trio of Karrah Davis, Amy Tranel, and Anna Runge would end the evening with seven block assists. 

Next up for the Spartans is the Aurora University Jim Coleman Memorial Classic on Sept. 12-13 in Aurora, Ill. Friday the Spartans play North Central College at 2:00 p.m. before ending the day against North Park College at 4:00 p.m. Saturday they will play Aurora University at 10:00 a.m. before finishing the classic against Franklin College at noon. UD returns home to host the Coe College Kohawks in the Iowa Conference opener on Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
