Martinez Continues to Roll Despite Women’s Tennis Setback

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Arantxa Martinez singles’ record remains unblemished (8-0) as she contributed to both University of Dubuque women’s tennis wins in a 7-2 road loss to Augustana (Ill.) on Tuesday afternoon.
In her first match of the day Martinez and partner Ashley Schleuter dispatched of the No. 1 Augustana doubles team, 8-3. Martinez followed up with a convincing No. 1 singles win, 6-0, 6-2, which gave the Spartans (2-6) their second and final match win of the day.
The Spartans are winless in six meetings against Augustana (10-2).
Next up on the docket is a road match against IIAC foe, Coe College, starting at 3:00 p.m. this Thursday, September 25th.
