Spartans Men's Golf 18th at Tournament Town Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Dubuque men’s golf team took on the Tournament Town Championship Preview (Sept. 21-22) head on and finished 18^th overall as a team.

The Spartans tallied a 946 (324-304-318) over the course of three rounds split between the Grandover Resort & Conference Center’s East and West Course. Both courses featured a par 72 and stretched to 7,100 yards and 6,800 yards, respectively. They will play host to the Division III National Championships in the spring of 2015.

The Spartans faced a loaded field featuring over 10 teams in the 2013 top-25 final rankings according to Golfstat. The No. 1 team, Oglethorpe, shot 873 and ran away with the title by nine shots.

Senior Josh Schuberg led the charge with a 30^th place finish individually. He shot +10 overall that included a stellar round two of -2. None of his teammates shot worse than +3 as they took advantage of the ideal round two weather conditions. Anders Haukoos represented UD in the number two slot by posting a +19 good for T68 overall. Troy Krueger (T81, +26)and Chance Manternach (T82, +27) rounded out the Spartan scorers while Tyler Engelken (T89, +44) represented the final Varsity golfer.

The Spartans make their way to Minnesota for the 2014 Twin Cities Golf Classic this upcoming Saturday, September 27th.
