Oct 8, 2014

The University of Dubuque Chamber Singers and the Julien Chamber Choir, both directed by Kristen Eby, adjunct music faculty, will perform a joint concert on Sunday, October 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the University of Dubuque Heritage Center’s John and Alice Butler Hall.  The concert, titled A Life in Song, features works by Mozart, Whitacre, and others, including the premiere of a commissioned work by Clarke University senior Adam O’Dell, based on the Dylan Thomas poem, “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night”.  Tickets are available through the Farber box Office - $7 for adults, $3 students and children, UD faculty/staff/students are free of charge – but a ticket is required for admission.

“I’m excited to bring these two talented groups together, and on top of that, to be premiering Adam’s beautiful piece,” commented Eby.  “It’s a real celebration of what our musical community has to offer.”

The University of Dubuque Chamber Singers is a select group of 10-12 singers from the University’s Concert Choir specializing in a cappella singing.  They perform and tour alongside the Concert Choir and present their own concert each spring.

The Julien Chamber Choir is an auditioned group of professional and amateur musicians from the Dubuque area.  In addition to their regular fall and spring concerts, they have been guest performers at the 2005 Illinois Music Educator’s Association State Conference, the 2003 Iowa Composer’s Symposium and Dubuque’s Summer Arboretum Concert Series.
