University of Dubuque presents Mary Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses

The University of Dubuque Department of Fine and Performing Arts along with the UD Drama Club will present Mary Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses beginning this Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. and will hold performances through Sunday, November 9, 2014. Set in and around a pool of water, Metamorphoses presents the poetic myths of Midas, Orpheus and Eurydice, Eros and Psyche, and others to juxtapose the ancient and contemporary in breathtaking storytelling and gorgeous imagery, exploring the timeless theme of love in all its forms.

TICKETS:       $7 for adults, $4 for students

 

“It has been a great learning opportunity to work with a real pool of water in a live theatre production, figuring out the logistics, and negotiating the physical requirements that such an endeavor requires,” says director Amy Ressler. Of the students’ experience, Ressler states that “the challenge of portraying the ‘larger-than-life’ qualities of these mythic characters has been a terrific and unique learning experience for our growing theatre arts program.  The interest and dedication of the students has been exciting and rejuvenating!”

 

This production is not suitable for children under the age of 13.
