Jazz Ensemble presents A Swingin’ Christmas at the University of Dubuque

The University of Dubuque Jazz Ensemble will present A Swingin’ Christmas on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in Heritage Center’s John and Alice Butler Hall. The concert, presented by the University’s Department of Fine and Performing Arts, will be performed by student jazz musicians under the direction of Nicholas Bratcher.

“The jazz ensemble at UD is constantly striving to provide a necessary component to our growing comprehensive music program,” said Nicholas Bratcher, director of instrumental music at UD.  “The holiday jazz concert will contribute a holiday performance venue for our jazz students, and will feature selections like “Santa Baby”, “This Christmas”, and jazz arrangements of some of our favorite Christmas carols.  It's going to be a concert you won't want to miss!”

 

University of Dubuque Jazz Ensemble members include: Brenna Heying, alto sax, of Elkader, IA (junior, nursing); Jocelyn Odegard, alto sax, of Dubuque, IA (junior, business); Garrett Kalenske, tenor sax, of Fairbank, IA (sophomore, computer graphics and interactive media); Dmitiri Jess, tenor sax, of Bellevue, IA (first-year, fine and performing arts); Brianna Kennedy, bari sax, of Farley, IA; Chris Turpin, trumpet, of Cascade, IA (sophomore, sociology and criminal justice); Mitchell Dinger, trumpet, of Brunssum, Netherlands (first-year, undecided); Kevondae McCullough, trumpet, of Charlotte, NC (sophomore, flight operations); Joe Spencer, trumpet, of Dubuque, IA; Shaquille McAlman, trombone, of Lithonia, GA (sophomore, flight operations); Elisa Thode, trombone, of Lake Zurich, IL (first-year, biology); Kaytie Jess, trombone, of Bellevue, IA (first-year, nursing); Ryan Seaba, trombone, of Bettendorf, IA (junior, computer graphics and interactive media); Gloria Badillo, string bass, of Brooklyn, WI (first-year, nursing); Dekker Pfab, keyboard, of Dubuque, IA (senior, computer information technology); Joe Solorzano, guitar, of Los Angeles, CA (sophomore, flight operations and aviation management); Zach Giese, drums, of Mason City, IA (first-year, fine and performing arts); and Jorge Pena, auxiliary percussion, of Chicago, IL (senior, sociology and criminal justice).
