Jump Around! McKenzie Leaps Her Way to IIAC Player of the Week Award

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The 2014 IIAC (Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) outdoor triple jump and long jump champion, Nikki McKenzie, picked up right where she left off after winning both events at the inaugural Spartan-Duhawk Dual meet last Friday.

McKenzie leaped 5.07m (16’ 7.75”) to win the long jump and secured the triple jump crown after a 11.06m (36’ 3.5”). Both winning jumps rank Top-5 in UD indoor track history and adds to McKenzie’s growing list of accolades that already includes: indoor and outdoor long jump UD school records, indoor triple jump UD school record, and UD school records in five different relays.

The Hoffman Estates, Ill. native also placed fourth in the 55 meter dash (7.72) and was a part of UD’s fourth place 1600 meter relay (4:18.13).

The 2014 NCAA Outdoor National triple jump qualifier majors in Business Administration and Exercise Science.

McKenzie and her Spartan teammates continue training before resuming the indoor season Friday, January 16 at the Wartburg Relays at 4:00 p.m.
