Spartans Hampered by Chilly Shooting in Loss

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. - As an artic chill swept the Midwest on Tuesday, the University of Dubuque women's basketball struggled to warm-up and finished the afternoon making just 14 shots in the 51-61 loss to UW-La Crosse, a team the Spartans beat 77-60 at home on November, 19.

Jenna Kotas was the lone Spartan to finish in double digits in scoring and finished with 17 points. UD led after one half 31-27, but would be held to just five baskets in the second half when they shot 14.7% from the field (5-34 attempts). The Spartans were out rebounded 43-37 and Kayla Springer led UD with seven rebounds. UD's defense forced the young Eagles into 23 turnovers and collected 10 points off the mistakes. 

The Spartans 5-5 overall return to action on Friday, January 2 at home on Jon Davison Court in Stoltz Sports Center against the College of St. Scholastica Saints (1-6 overall) with tip off at 2:00 p.m.
