MT. VERNON, Iowa – Led by Nicole Forson’s victory in the women’s weight throw, the University of Dubuque women’s track and field throwers captured three of the Top-5 performances in both throwing events to lead UD to the Cornell Hilltop Invite title on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans (131 points) beat out four other teams by 18 points, including the lone Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) foe, Simpson College, who finished third with 98 points.

Forson’s winning toss of 15.60m/51'2.25" was a personal record by over three-and-a-half feet and marked her second victory in that event. Forson won the inaugural Spartan-Duhawk Dual meet in December. Katelyn Herbig (14.59m/47’10.50”) and Lauren Egnarski (12.00m/39’4.5”) placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

In the shot put, the women took spots three through five, led by a school record attributed to Tanasha Atwater (12.92m/42’4.75”). Egnarski (11.60m/38’0.75”) and Forson (11.18m/36’8.25”) finished right behind Atwater.

The Spartan throwing contingent was responsible for 34 (26%) of UD's total points.

UD was paced by three other victors that included Alexis Higgins in the high jump (1.57m/5’1.75”), Rachel Busjahn in the 200 meters (27.21, personal record), and 4x400-meter relay team of Higgins, Busjahn, Katrina Pagel, and Sydney Sears (4:17.13).

The Spartans travel to Grinnell Invite in Grinnell, Iowa next Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
