MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The University of Dubuque men's tennis would split duals on Saturday, losing the opener to Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) by a 3-6 margin before volleying back to capture the second dual 7-2 over Ripon College. The Spartans are 2-3 overall this early season.

MSOE started the match by claiming all three doubles matches, UD would capture #1, #2, an #4 singles. The trio of freshmen winners included: Richard Rhinehart (DBQM) def. Dam, Zachary (MSOE) 1-6, 6-2, 10-8 at #1 singles, Matthew Sablay (DBQM) def. Slaughter, Matthew (MSOE) 7-5, 7-5 at 32 singles, and Ranfer Hernandez (DBQM) def. Smith, Tom (MSOE) 6-1, 5-7, 10-3 at #4 singles.

The Spartans would be victorious in the nightcap losing just two matches in the 7-2 win over Ripon College. The doubles teams of Nikolay Gospodinov/Ranfer Hernandez (DBQM) def. J.J. Grinde/Anders Goodwin (RC) 8-1 at #2 doubles and Jordan Hamling/Zebulon Hill (DBQM) def. Nick Julian/Pheng Vang (RC) 8-0 won at #3 doubles to begin the match. 

UD dominated the singles dropping one out of the six singles matches. Eric Seiler (RC) def. Richard Rhinehart (DBQM) 6-2, 6-1 at #1 singles. UD would capture wins at #2 singles Matthew Sablay (DBQM) def. Lincoln Wurtz (RC) 6-0, 6-4; #3 singles Nikolay Gospodinov (DBQM) def. J.J. Grinde (RC) 6-1, 6-1; #4 singles Ranfer Hernandez (DBQM) def. Anders Goodwin (RC) 6-2, 6-1; #5 singles Jordan Hamling (DBQM) def. Nick Julian (RC) 6-2, 6-2; and #6 singles Zebulon Hill (DBQM) def. Pheng Vang (RC) 6-0, 6-0.

The Spartans will travel to face Ashford University on Sunday afternoon in Clinton, Iowa.
