Men' Lacrosse Drop Road Conference Opener

KENOSHA, Wis. - The University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team opened their road conference season at Carthage College on Wednesday night and lost the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) match by a 3-16 score. The Spartans goals were from Andrew Triantos, Josh Berey-Wingate, and Tyson Svoboda.

The Spartans trailed by 1-8 at halftime after allowing four goals in each of the opening periods. Carthage attacked early in the thrid period and finished with seven goals to stretch their lead to 15-2 after three periods. UD finished with 10 shots and 16 ground balls. Carthage dominated the faceoffs by allowing the Spartans just one all evening (1-23). Goalie Kyle Mullins had little time to relax after facing 66 Carthage shots and collecting 21 saves in the process. He grabbed six saves in the first period, four saves in the second period, three saves in the third and eight saves in the final period of action.

The Spartans travel to face the Carroll College Pioneers on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. as they continue their inaugural CCIW season.
