DUBUQUE, Iowa -  Even a delay couldn't disrupt the Spartans hot streak as the University of Dubuque women's lacrosse team handled the Illinois Institute of Technology, 20-2, on Tuesday night.

Despite bus troubles for the Scarlet Hawks (1-7, 0-2 MWLC) that pushed the game back two hours, the Spartans continued along their regularly scheduled routine of early season success. UD racked up its fourth win in a row and has outscored opponents 75-26 during the streak.

Senior Judy Borah has been a key component in the run and scored four goals tonight to lead a contingent of eight Spartans (6-2, 1-0 CCIW) that had at least two goals each. Borah's goal at the 28:41 mark in the first opened up the scoring as the Scarlet Hawks countered 36 seconds later to make it 1-1.

The Spartans (6-2, 1-0 CCIW) took over from there getting two goals each from Robyn WittkopfKelly Wetherald, and Bridget Schirmers in a 12-0 run that gave UD the 13-1 lead at the half.

UD shared the wealth in the second half after seven different players netted seven goals to cap off the victory.

Defensively, the Spartans stifled the Scarlet Hawks after winning the shot count, 48-6, and forcing 38 turnovers that helped contribute to a 10 of 30 conversion rate on clears for the Hawks. On the flip side, the Spartans converted 13 of 14 clears along with 17 of 24 draw controls.

Both Wittkopf and Wetherald recorded hat tricks (three goals each) with Wittkopf adding five draw controls and Wetherald supplying one assist as well. Defender Haley Shilts provided some offense after recording her second straight game with two goals. Shilts has scored all six of her season goals in the last four games.

The Spartans face an established Augustana (Ill.) (6-1) team on the road this Friday, April 3 at noon.
