BOX SCORE
DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team faced an uphill battle after an 8-0 first quarter deficit led to a 22-1 defeat at the hands of Augustana College on Friday afternoon.

Joshua Cramer scored the Spartans lone goal in the third quarter off a slick assist from Josh Berey-Wingate to halt a 16-0 lead by the Vikings (9-2, 1-0 CCIW). Augustana, the CCIW's preseason favorite, outshot the Spartans, 65-4, with all four UD shots coming from different players.

Goalkeeper Kyle Mullins anchored the Spartan defense with 18 saves in the effort and Berey-Wingate led the team with five ground balls.

Both teams rolled into today's game with momentum. The Spartans (2-6, 1-2 CCIW) were slowed after winning two of their last three games while the Vikings continue to excel after winning their seventh straight. Augustana's stout defense has held opponents to 13 goals in the last four games.

UD drops to 0-2 all-time vs. Augustana after a 20-1 defeat a year ago.

The Spartans continue their three-game homestand as they host the Milwaukee School of Engineering (3-6, 1-2 MLC) on April 11 at 4:00 p.m. The Raiders lost 15-0 to Carthage in their last game on Wednesday, April 1.
