Women's Tennis' LoCasto Named to Capital One All-District At-Large Team

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque Spartan Academic Female Athlete Excellence Award winner and women's tennis record holder, senior Stephanie LoCasto, added to her growing list of accomplishments after being chosen to the Capital One All-District At-Large team on May 14.

One of the most prestigious academic awards given out to student-athletes across the country, to be nominated, athletes must have a 3.30 GPA or better and be a contributing member of their sport. LoCasto was in elite company as 12 of the 13 voted to the All-District team had 3.82 GPAs or higher.

The Lake Zurich, Ill. native concluded her Spartan career as a 3.99 student majoring in Environmental Science and has won numerous other off-the-court awards that include: Spartan Academic Athlete Excellence Award (top UD senior student-athlete GPA), UD's Wendt Character Athlete Award, four-time member of the UD Dean's List, and a three-time All-Iowa Conference selection.

LoCasto made her presence known on-the-court as well after racking up the second-most career singles (27), doubles (24), and overall wins (51) in UD history en route to an individual Flight "C" IIAC Championship. The senior also set a UD record for most single-season doubles wins with 10 in 2013-14 and finished runner up in the individual Flight "C" IIAC Championship. 

This is her first Capital One Academic All-District Award as she joined members of golf, tennis, swimming, water polo, and lacrosse in the 13-member, District 8 All-District At-Large team.
