DECORAH, Iowa - The University of Dubuque softball team out hit the Central College Dutch in the 2015 IIAC Softball Tournament on Saturday, but five errors proved costly for the Spartans in a 1-7 loss to end their season. UD finishes wth a 15-27 overall record for coach Wendi Wipperfurth.

A quartet of seniors would lead the squad with 44 multi-hit games in 2015. Meggie Schmidt finished with 17 games with more than one hit (11 with two hits, 4 with three hits, and 2 with four hits). Teammates Ainsley Billesbach, Kelli Gerace, and Carlee Grunder all ended 2015 with nine games each with multiple hits. Freshman Andrea Smith led the Spartans earlier this season by reaching base with a season high 15 consecutive games.

Schmidt led the Spartans season batting percentage with .395 after batting leadoff in 36 games and 129 at bats in 2015. Pitcher Megan Loes finished with .357, in just 14 at bats. Billesbach hit the century mark in at bats and had a .330 batting average and led UD in hit by pitches with 10. Grunder batted 126 times and finished with a .317 average and a team high 20 RBI's. As a team UD batted .289 with 145 RBI's. Freshman Courtney Markin squeaked over the .300 mark with .301 average after 93 at bats.

On the mound for the Spartans, the pitching staff ended 2015 with a season ERA of 4.19. Hannah Koeperich had the team's low ERA of 3.51 with a 5-8 record after appearing in 24 games. She pitched 89.2 innings with 40 strikeouts. Amanda Williams led UD with a season high 71 strikeouts in 83.1 innings with ERA of 4.45. She allowed just 19 hits beyond a single and had a 5-11 record after seeing time in 21 games. Megan Loes pitched 66.1 innings with a 4-7 record with 43 strikeouts after playing in 23 games as a pitcher. Freshman Megan Schlueter ended with a 4.85 ERA after appearing in 10 games and facing 113 at bats. She tossed 26 innings and had 21 strikeouts with a 1-1 record.
